1.Is the hörnlihütte open all year round?
No, the Hörnlihütte is only open in the summer from end of June until end of September; however, the emergency shelter is open when the hut is closed.
Yes, the emergency shelter is open when the hut is closed. It consists of 20 mattresses and a toilet. It has no bed content, no water, no gas, no kitchen. The emergency room cannot be reserved. After use, a contribution towards expenses of CHF 20 must be paid.

Yes, it is compulsory when staying overnight in the public dormitory. You must sleep in your sleeping bag liner on the bed. Sleeping bag liners can be purchased for CHF 43 at the Hörnlihütte.

Yes, and with no charge, but only in the private suites. We ask that dogs stay in the room during mealtimes.

No, wild camping and bivouacking is strictly forbidden around the Matterhorn above 2,880m and will be enforced by the local police and will incur a large fine.
They can accommodate up to 8 persons on bunkbeds.

No, beds are allocated per booking and activity.
Showering with a shower token costs CHF 5 for 3 minutes of warm water.

Only mountain guides, hiking guides and Alpine Club members can receive a CHF 10 discount in the dormitories when they present their ID.
Yes, children up to the age of 16 get a 50% discount on their stay.

Yes, from 11:00 to 15:00 we are happy to serve you freshly prepared regional food. We do not take reservations. We operate a first come, first served policy.
No, you cannot bring your own food and consume it on the terrace, or inside our restaurant.

17. Do I get a refund if I cancel my stay?
In the event of cancellation, the deposit of CHF 50 per person will not be refunded. No exceptions. We recommend taking out travel or cancellation insurance. By giving advance notice it is possible to postpone bookings with deposit payment within the current season.
Yes, we are open seven days a week during the season. We offer a range of snacks and drinks all day. Lunch is served from 11:00 until 15:00.
