The ascent of the Matterhorn is the highest achievement for many who climb it. Although not technically difficult, it requires good fitness and previous rock and ice climbing experience to reach the top in a timely manner usually between 4 to 5 hours. Good preparation through previous expeditions in high alpine territory is a prerequisite. Please bear in mind that the way down is longer and harder than the way up and requires stamina and endurance. We always recommend using a mountain guide.
